Budgeting summary

The Budgeting feature in Origin is a simulation tool and its primary utilization is to better understand forecasting. It allows you to build a comprehensive forecast. You can download and save this forecast with simulated budget and turn it into a capital plan.

  • To view the budget-related details, click on Budgeting in the left navigation panel.

     

Budgeting calculations

  • Upon clicking on Budgeting in the left panel, you’ll see Budgeting Calculations.

  • You’ll see the fiscal years for which the budget has been distributed.

 

Buttons and configurations

  • The Filters button allows you to look up a specific asset.

  • The search box allows you to search for an asset by its name, number, type, and building.

  • The two important configurations here are:

    • Maintenance Priority

    • End of life determination

 

Maintenance Priority

The options here are:

  • Risk: You can allocate all funds to maintain assets with a high risk.

  • Normalized: This allows for an even distribution of funds among all assets.

End-of-life determination

The options here are:

  • Straightline: This end-of-life date is determined by the asset’s manufacturer.

  • Adjusted: This end-of-life date is based on the repairs, maintenance, and health index of an asset.

Maintenance List and Replacements List

Upon scrolling down the page, you’ll see two tabs:

  • Maintenance List

  • Replacements List

  • Both these lists have three tabs:

    • All: Switch to this tab to view all assets in the maintenance list.

    • Checked: Click on Checked to see a list of checked assets.

    • Unchecked: Go to this tab to view a list of unchecked assets.

Maintenance List

You can see a list of assets with maintenance costs. The following information is available about the assets:

  • Asset Number

  • Asset Name

  • Type

  • Building

  • Location

  • Risk

  • FHI Index

  • Maint. hrs/year (h)

  • Maint. Cost/year ($)

  • Maint. hrs budgeted (h)

  • Maint. cost budgeted (h)

  • Deficit/Excess ($)

 

Replacements List

You can see a list of assets that were replaced. The following information is available about the assets:

  • Asset Number

  • Asset Name

  • Type

  • Building

  • Location

  • Risk

  • FHI index

  • Replacement cost ($)

  • End of life date
